Gavin DeGraw may have had his last tango on television, but the singer-songwriter isn't upset about his recent Dancing With the Stars elimination. Gavin recently spoke to In Touch about getting the boot and revealed that he came away from the experience with nothing but positive feelings.
"It really felt like summer camp," Gavin said at the Origins Rocks Earth Month Concert. "The downside is that you're leaving all your new friends. The upside is that I had a great experience. I learned how to move my hips. And I picked up some of the fundamentals of a bunch of dances that I never had any idea what they were."
Gavin may have been at a disadvantage, though, as he had to fit practice time in between traveling to show dates. His dance partner, Karina Smirnoff, even came on tour with him to work on routines in every spare moment Gavin had. Still, he admits the schedule was grueling. "I definitely bit off more than I could chew as far as the physical amount of time to learn everything, but the experience was awesome. I really had a great time. The elimination was absolutely fair. I went there to have a great time, not for a trophy."
And based on Gavin's high spirits, it certainly seemed like he accomplished his goal. When asked shortly after the decision was made how he felt, Gavin maintained proper perspective. "I said, 'Hey, there are real problems. This is a luxurious problem.' It was such a great ride. If I could do it all over again, I'd do it exactly the same way."
