NFL star misses training camp for court appearance

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was back in a Houston courtroom on Monday for his resisting arrest charge stemming from an alleged dispute with two off-duty police officers at a downtown nightclub on July 7.

Prosecutors requested more time to review his case, and two pre-trail dates were set for Sept. 27 and Nov. 15.

Peterson, 27, was accompanied by his attorney, Rusty Hardin. He missed a day of Vikings training camp to attend his mandatory second court appearance

Peterson is accused of struggling with two off-duty police officers working security jobs after being asked to leave Live! At Bayou Place, 534 Texas Ave., shortly after closing time at 2 a.m. July 7.

He has denied the charges.

"I've told my family, friends and now my fans that I'm 110 percent, 200 percent, innocent," he told reporters last month outside a Houston courtroom, during his initial court appearance in the case. "I never pushed, shoved, touched anything or anyone that night, especially an officer."

The star running back is a native of Palestine in East Texas and former tailback for the University of Oklahoma.

Outside the courtroom Monday, several people approached him a shook his hand, talked football and wished him luck. He was friendly, but when talk shifted from football he kept quiet. Asked if he has returned to the nightclub since his arrest, he said, "take a wild guess," smiling.

"I'm feeling pretty good," Peterson said about his chances in court.

During court, he gave out autographs to several other defendants and a few lawyers while waiting for proceedings to begin.
